While going through some old hard drives recently, I stumbled across raw files from a shoot I did in the Dominican Republic with the incredible Lily Peña. I’d already edited a few of the photos after our shoot, but seeing them again with fresh eyes (and new editing tools!) got me inspired to take another crack at them.

Lily has such a vibrant, magnetic energy it made working with her an absolute blast. There’s something about her expressions and movement that just makes photos come alive.

This time around, I used my Portra 400 film emulation preset. Something I’ve been slowly crafting in Lightroom. I’ve been fine-tuning it for a while now, and honestly, I think I’m really close to getting it just right. I’m loving how the golden skin tones and warm highlights are coming through, it’s finally starting to feel like real film. Or at least as close as you can get with a digital preset.

I’ve got a few different film-style presets in the works, and once they’re dialed in, I’ll be adding them to my online shop. But for now, I hope you enjoy these re-edits of Lily.

Let me know what you think of the tones!
