First Impressions
The Neewer FL10 is a small but well-built portable LED light designed for creative photography and video lighting. The aluminum body feels sturdy, and the simple button-dial-all-in-one interface makes it easy to adjust brightness, color, and beam angle on the fly. THree 1/4″ mounts give you flexibility for placing it on light stands, tripods, or camera rigs, which is helpful for both photography and YouTube setups.
What sets this light apart from many other compact video lights is the included set of 20 gobo filters. These allow you to project shapes, textures, and patterns onto a background or subject. My full size Gobo only came with 5 Gobo filters and it was 6 times more expensive. Combined with the push-pull zoom head, you can switch between a narrow spotlight projection or a wider wash for softer creative effects. The FL10 only has a 10 watt power output so it can’t project light has far as a traditional Gobo. On the other hand the FL10 doesn’t get as hot as a traditional Gobo so you can make your own cutouts with arts and crafts supplies.
The four built-in colors, white, orange, blue, and red add a bit more versatility for creative lighting setups, especially for portrait photography, product shots, or background accents in YouTube or streaming videos.
Power & Practical Use
One important detail potential buyers search for when researching the Neewer FL10 gobo light is its power. This light is only 10 watts, which means it’s not designed to compete with bright key lights or basic video lights.
Instead, the FL10 really performs best in dark or low-light environments. This is where the gobo patterns become clear, and visually useful. You can see examples in my YouTube review video. In brighter conditions, the 10W output can easily get washed out.
But in the right setup, dim studios, controlled indoor spaces, or nighttime shoots, the Neewer FL10 becomes a surprisingly capable tool. It really is nice to have a portable Gobo light that you can fit in your pocket and take with you on a creative shoot. Once you understand it’s limitations you can really start to come up with creative ways to use it. If you’re into creative photography lighting, cinematic b-roll, or YouTube background lighting, this compact light can add depth and character to your scene without much effort.
Battery & Accessories
The built-in 7500mAh battery provides a solid amount of runtime for a light this small, and the fact that it can run while connected to USB-C is a big plus for longer sessions or YouTube recording setups. Being able to hook this light up to a power bank or power mains really increases its versatility.
Neewer includes a silicone snoot, USB-C cable, and a soft carrying pouch in the box. It’s a simple but useful kit that lets you start shooting right out of the box.
Where It Works Best
In my experience, the Neewer FL10 Gobo Light is especially useful for:

Final Thoughts
Overall, the Neewer FL10 is a niche but very capable creative lighting tool. Its 10W output means it shines (literally and figuratively) in darker environments, but when used correctly, it offers a level of visual creativity that you don’t often find in small, budget-friendly lights.
For photographers, videographers, and content creators searching for a compact gobo light, an affordable creative photography light, or a portable way to add patterns and texture to their work, the FL10 is definitely worth considering. It definitely has its limitations but when used properly it can add visual impact to your images. Is it worth the money? . . . For $50 USD I think it’s worth the money if you use it to add visual impact to your photos or videos. For me as a YouTube creator I look forward to using this light to create some interesting thumbnails.
